#365project2016 Day 6

In High School my favorite class was Photography. Before the instant gratification of digital images. Developing film, using the enlarger, developing pictures. I still remember the smell of the dark room, I loved that smell. 

One of my favorite projects was double exposure. Using the enlargers to create something that now only takes seconds in Photoshop. 

That class was the beginning of my love of photography. Present day, owning bags of heavy bulky camera gear, looking like I was on safari taking simple family photos. I've changed what I shoot with an embarrassing amount of times. Perhaps what I am looking for is that excitement I had in class. The thrill of watching my images come to life in the developer solution. Seeing it hung on the line with a clothes pin to dry with all the other images. 

Todays photo is of Devlin practicing his guitar that he got for Christmas. Not sure what image to use I decided on both. Maybe one day he will use it for his CD cover ;)

I have always loved this tree. I am not sure what it is about it. Any season it looks so magical. Today on my way to Target I stopped to take a photo.

#365project2016 Day 4

Back to school, back to work. Amazingly the kids were excited to head back to school and had a fabulous day.

By the time I get around to getting a photo taken it is already dark out. I "could" have photographed houses that have yet to let go of Christmas. Instead it's another cat picture... Looking back on past projects my cats are frequent subject matter. I should make it a goal to limit my cat pictures to once a week ;)

Storm was not feeling well today, making horrible noises that a cat makes when it's about to hairball your carpet. He seems better now, though he is still quite cranky which is not all that unusual for him.

#365project2016 Day 3

So I'm starting my project 2 days late, hopefully I can keep it up for the remaining 362 days.

Today is gloomy, grey and cold. The weather as it is, my kiddos and some friends had a fantastic nerf gun battle in the back yard, which is like one big sheet of slippery ice. They had a blast! Pity I didn't think to head out and photograph their short lived fun before they came inside from getting too cold.

Starting out my project with my kitty Horatio getting clean. Hopefully I can and will get more creative in the days to follow as I did in previous years. My gear may not be what it used to be but the best camera you have is the one you have with you. It's not the camera that makes the photo but the photographer. Armed with a mirrorless, point and shoot and iPhone. I hope I can capture something each day.
